the brooch is like a painting in glass when you are close you can see all the little pieces but when you look at a distance the details meld together in harmony
the setting and pin stem are marked circled
I believe tourists purchased the mosaic portion in Italy, Rome to be specific, and often had the mosaic set as a brooch earrings ring etc in their home country hence different gold marks on these types of pieces
